7 March 2004 Ten
Truckloads of Kindness for Interval House Residents, Thanks to Realstar
Group, ResREIT and RioCan…(and that’s just the first shipment!) Realstar
Group, one of Canada’s largest residential landlord and management
companies, has made a remarkable gift to Interval House. Realstar Group
is donating 75 suites of furniture to Interval House, to be given to
women leaving Interval House and moving into their own homes across the
city of Toronto. Interval House’s Nadine Chan says, “Realstar’s
contribution is just fantastic! It takes enormous courage for women to
make a fresh start after leaving an abusive relationship. Realstar’s
gift ensures that when women leave Interval House, they can move into a
home instead of an empty, lonely apartment”.
With no place to store that much furniture, Interval House turned to
Dino Chiesa, President and Chief Executive Officer of ResREIT,
(Residential Equities Real Estate Investment Trust) and Fred Waks,
Senior Vice President at RioCan Reit, who both came forward and offered
to donate the warehousing space.
Realstar Group’s first shipment was ten truckloads of beds, mattresses,
tables, dressers, wardrobes, coffee tables, lamps and more. Interval
House wishes to extend our heart-felt thanks to Wayne Squibb, President
and CEO, all the employees of Realstar Group and to Dino Chiesa of
ResReit, and all their employees.
